That Spain team plays some evil footy on its day.
They need 12 chances to score, though.

If Spain had a striker worthy of the name, they'd be odds-on. The Germans are similar. No killer instinct - which sort of negates the entire point of Die Nationalmannschaft. Their problem is they have no defender worthy of the name, either. They'll do well to get past the Japanese in the group.

I think a really ordinary Brazil might win this by default. They are sort of solid all over the pitch - but that makes them vulnerable to a Holland or Portugal having a good day. If the French can find a way not to self-immolate, they'll win it again.

It does rather feel like a "no good teams" year.

That opens the door to a shocker, though there don't seem to be any particularly notable candidates. Somebody is likely to catch fire for the critical knockout games, but it's hard to say who.

Eh it's a one game knockout and it could be 8 or 9 teams day when it matters

Senegal are my Cinderella team this year. Manageable group and enough talent to beat anyone on their day. Also assuming they advance they get a bearable team in the round of 16 no matter what. Be fun to see an African side go far.
