For all his brilliance Zlatan IbrahimoviÄ‡ is prone to some mental moments. In Sunday's 1-0 win over Lyon he appeared to stamp on the head of Lyon defender Dejan Lovren:

I'd like to think it wasn't, but if that was someone like Suarez we'd all be jumping to persecute him for a deliberate stamp

He could have easily held is leg up in the air for a bit longer so as not to stand on the guy's head. He may have been looking at the ball but he also has peripheral vision and has just seen the lad fall to the ground in front of him. Suarez would be getting crucified for it.

Nah, not at all. He's just trying to jump over the bloke. Watch where he's looking just before the camera switches angle; it's straight ahead. There's no intent whatsoever.

The Suarez stamps are a different story as there's deliberate motion every single time.

Peripheral vision allows you to see a person so I'm going with guilty as sin, only reason he didn't make better contact is because he wasn't pointing his head down. Snide.

impossible to tell from that gif because of the way it switches angle right at the most important moment, when the wide shot is needed.

Good point.

The first bit looks fine to me, but then the switch makes it look bad. You can't see his face or body shape when he makes contact though. Need a clearer bit of footage.

It's the classic no look foul. Hasn't deliberately stamped on him but is aiming to land on him and knows it's probably going to be somewhere painful if he does connect.
