Zenit fans demand all-white, non-gay team

It's scary to think St Petersburg is going to be the centre for the world cup in 2018, must be tough for players like samba playing there. On another note you'd think this would be enough to scare fellaini off if interest did come from them

As I've said already, it wasn't that long ago that Wenger was critisized for having a team full of foreigners. Fans would crave British players because they apparently understood the game better and could relate more to the fans.

I mean the England captain was found guilty of saying bad stuff, should we not have hosted the Olympics as a result?

As I've said before, Britain has had decades of multi-culturalism, because we had people come to Britain from throughout the Commonwealth after the war, yet it took a good 40-50 years before racism here wasn't as big an issue.

We're also a country where Alan Turing prosecuted for his sexual preference and killed himself as a result, and in over 100 years of professional football, only one player has come out as gay, and he killed himself as well.

There's a whole lot of mocking the backward foreigners here when our own house isn't exactly a beacon of liberal thinking. You only have to read some of the stuff posted on this very forum in the migration thread a while ago to see that.

Personally I don't really want any English players in our team, it's not of any importance to me, I knew a few that feel the same. And I'm not saying our country is perfect because it isn't and no, there is no way that I would've picked London to host the olympics. All I'm saying is that their appears to be large amounts of racism in football and it throws into question if that would be the best place to host the biggest football tournament in the world, same as poland & ukraine was questioned for the same thing.

http://www.bris.ac.uk/news/2012/8737.html research here highlights how Poles and other eastern Europeans are subjected to racism in this country. It goes both ways.

Hopefully it'll continue to improve, but it is a basic fact of human psychology that we create in groups and out groups, with the in group being folks like us, and the out group being folks not like us. There's a whole lot of research showing that we treat the in group much better than we do the out group. It's a prejudice, or bias if you want a less loaded term, that I suspect we all have to an extent, we just use different criteria to define who is in and who is out based upon what is important to us at the time.

Identity is a pretty complex issue (my work is doing some research on it at the moment so I've been privvy to a whole host of research into it).

I wonder if Purple Aki will travel to the away leg in Russia?

He isnt working that day ?
