take croatia, montenegro, serbia, macedonia, slovenia and bosnia. its ridiculous how much talent they continue to produce across the pitch despite the resources and the war zones.

how good would they be today?

and is it right that catalonia could get FIFA status? tearing up the barcelona team from spain just like croatia did by getting independence from yugoslavia. before you know it 1 state leaving becomes 5.

I guess the people of former Yugoslavia are happy about the way things turned out, gaining independence, but they coulda been a boss footy team if they stayed together.

Catalonia will never be FIFA recognised unless it becomes a seperate state from Spain. They have a team and many big stars play for them

I reckon the in fighting between all the nationalities would sink them to be honest

Spain only started winning things when the Barca and Real players were able to put their hatred aside and work as a team

It would have been a nightmare trying to get the Mongengrans, Slavs, Croats, Serbs and Bosians to get on together long enough to win a football match

Based on the players I know, afraid I'm not an expert on up and coming youngsters from the Balkans.
Very decent team. No reason why it wouldn't be able to be a solid dark-horse in a EURO/World Cup (if it were real)

Didn't they actually knock Spain out in Italia '90?

I remember one player, stankovich when I was a kid and I used to lol by calling him Stinkovich.

Doesn't stinkovich still play?

if they were put back into one team it may be the first time a player is sent of for a two footed lunge on a team mate.

Since that team in the 1990 WC, they have had some quality players from that region, Alen Boksic, Sinisa Mihajlovic, Davor Suker, Predrag Mijatovic just to name a few.
