Your top 3 World cup matches of all time?

One I wouldn't mind seeing is Italy v Germany in 1970. You don't tend to get 4-3 games in semi-finals. Just goes to show how good Brazil were in the final that Italy did for a very good German side, who of course had done for us.

Must agree with the first and last - tremendous games. Brazil v England 1970 (any Brazil 1970 game really). Portugal v NK at Goodison but I can't say I remember it (except on video).

Brazil's 1970 Final was superb. 1978 and 1982 next best in my lifetime. Many of the rest quite forgettable.
 

Impossible to pick just 3 without continually changing my mind but here's a quick go.

1966 England 4 West Germany 2. Great game and we won the world cup.

1982 Brazil 4 Scotland 1. Football effectively played to music the epitome of pure skill over method with Alan Hansen exposed as a complete donkey.

1970 Pick virtually any Brazil game. They displayed skills I had never seen. Learned to bend a ball because of Pele, Rivellino, Jairzinho et al.

What many people tend to forget is that the 1970 final was 1-1 till about 65 minutes in (I think). That extra time against W.Germany probably told against a Brazil team which was not only technically brilliant but who'd had a rigorous physical preparation.

my all time fav.
74 Holland v Argentina,the best performance of that Dutch team,it rained throughout the second half .The first World cup I really remember.Lads,you have to watch it on you tube,6 minutes long,brilliant,

82 West Germany v France,had it all didn't it.

90 West Germany V England ,wrong result for me,hard to believe it's nearly 25 years ago.totally gutted afterwards,but what drama.
