If they weren't that good at the moment, i wouldn't ask, but i am interested what do you think about such clubs (like they brother club in Salzburg)? I think that anyone should have the chance to form a club, even companies.

I don't mind them owning a club but didn't they "cleanse" Salzburg of all the fans they deemed unsavoury? Not a fan of that at all.

I guess the question you'd ask is... are you bothered by MK Dons?

The difference is ones proving to be hugely successful, whereas the seemingly non-existant teams from Leipzig contnue to be... well... Non-Existent.

AFC Wimbledon have done amazingly well to get back to where they're at, and they've subsequently allowed MK Dons to be accepted.

This RB Leipzig have in theory, brought a Professional Football team to Leipzig, one who's doing quite well too, and whilst it goes against the traditionalists way, but why shouldn't they be accepted?

Bayer Leverkusen (It's in the name for christ sake), Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim are from similar ilk, so I guess the big question is, why the HUGE kick off over Leipzig?

Were they the old Dynamo Leipzig? Or is this a brand new club?
No, they were a lower league club called SSV Markranstädt who were four or five rungs down the German football tiers.

The real issue over in Germany is not their success and lack of history, but rather the lack of common democratic influence of the fans.

Many clubs have a 50+1 rule whereby members of the club are able to vote on issues such as electing members of the board.

RB Leipzig have very few members (apparently less than 20) as the cost to become a member is massively prohibit at hundreds of Euros.

That's what incites the fans as it makes a mockery of the usual German model and they believe it'll set a precedent for future clubs.

Thanks for the info mate. Ta very interesting

Quite reviled by fans of every other club in Germany.

I suspect in a few years there'll be an entire generation of locals in and around the city who have jumped on the bandwagon and show no interest in watching the more traditional city clubs such as Chemie and Lokomotiv.

I'm hoping the fixture gods smile kindly on me as, over the final weekend of February, Red Bull, Chemie and Lokomotiv are all at home - I'll head over if the 3 games all de-conflict.
