Bruce Springsteen:

Born In The USA ( about the Vietnam vets returning home to no jobs, no future)

Long Walk Home ("a guy comes back to his town and recognizes nothing and is recognized by nothing," Springsteen told The New York Times' A. O. Scott. "The singer in 'Long Walk Home,' that's his experience. His world has changed. The things that he thought he knew, the people who he thought he knew, whose ideals he had something in common with, are like strangers. The world that he knew feels totally alien. I think that's what's happened in this country in the past six years")

I'm On Fire (steamy, hot and sexy...sorry!)

Brilliant Disguise ( self-doubt, uncertainty, jealously, direct reference to his own marital problems)

Thunder Road (Mary and her boyfriend and one last chance to make it real)

The Rising ( written after 9/11, tells the story of a firefighter, climbing one of the twin towers after the hijacked planes had hit them. The song depicts the surreal, desperate environment in which he finds himself)

Hungry Heart ( because we've all got one according to Bruce and need affection)

Dancing In The Dark (my favourite song of all time. My go to song when I'm miserable)

Downbound Train ( one of the saddest songs ever "She just said Joe, I gotta go...")

Johnny 99 ( the laid off auto worker who kills somebody when drunk and distraught)

and on that cheery note I'll bid you goodnight x

Good list but slightly crestfallen you have missed my favourite Brucie track that I was listening to just today. Streets of Philadelphia.

U2

10.Discotheque - For its snooker coverage start, great riff and camp video. Ahead of its time.

9.New Year's Day - Classic U2 that set the tone of what followed.

8.Elevation - Amazing live.

7.Where the streets have no name - No introduction necessary.

6.Numb - Shows the experimental side of U2.

5.One - Simply a perfect pop song packed with extra emotion.

4.Hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me - Brilliant tune that made Batman Forever watchable.

3.Pride (in the name of love) - All time classic.

2.Fly - Great rock track with amazing vocals.

1.Miss Sarajevo - Hauntingly beautiful and powerful at the same time.

I was going to post them!! haha

My favorite band! :)
