eacher struck off for misconduct after claim of sex with ex-pupil A teacher who it is claimed had sex with a 16-year-old pupil who had just left her school has been found guilty of professional misconduct.

Claire Horton, 33, from Newport, was found guilty at a General Teaching Council for Wales disciplinary hearing.

She admitted what she called "the ultimate sin" of crossing professional lines, but denied sexual activity with the teenager.

She was struck off the teaching register for at least two years.

The hearing was told the teacher and pupil made contact through Facebook within weeks of him leaving school.

Ms Horton had been a teacher at the school for 10 years and was going through a difficult marriage break up.

She picked up the ex-pupil and took him to her house where she claimed they talked and fell asleep.

She told the hearing she knew she had crossed a professional line and reported the matter to her employers.

When questioned the 16-year-old said there had been sexual intercourse - which was denied by the teacher.

Ms Horton will be unable to apply to rejoin the register for at least two years, the panel decided.

The Crown Prosecution Service decided not to prosecute.

What a little grass the lad is. Thought he was the big man slotting his teacher then crumbles under questioning and gets her the sack

Why couldn't my teachers not chat me up, our R.E teacher would make the girls in skirts sit at the front, our art teacher ate charcoal and our history teacher would buy weed off the pupils.
