Player Valuation: £70m
This should be interesting....

I obtained my first mobile phone in 1985, a Motorola DynaTAC 8000X

Retail price: £3,000

By 1988 the same phone cost less than £600. I remember the tariff depended whether or not you were in or outside the M25.

Calls cost 38p a minute.....

did it used start charging you as soon as the number had been dialled ? so if it took a minute for them to answer then you paid for listening to the ring ?

£3000 in 1985 was a lot of money , you could by a decent house for £25000 in Those days !
Remember being outside Liverpool St station around that time and some fella had a "mobile" that had a cable attached to a briefcase , which I assumed was the battery !

Not as indestructible as claimed. had for a long time, but after a Ministry show, a tipsy me was holding it, slipped... hand, holding phone, shot out for balance and smashed the screen on the corner of a dresser.

Pretty sure this was my first phone too. Still had an antenna sticking out of the body.

Mine was a Phillips 350. Could go days without charging it, not like now were i have to take my charger to uni with me FFS.

Nokia 1100. Boss as and perfect for texting with its rubbery keypad. Still have it sitting in one of my desk draws, perfectly fine apart from the keypad which is shredded after 4years of use as a teenager.

I know a woman who still has, or did the last time I saw her in 2010, and uses her first one. I can only describe it as a brick. I didn't know until today how expensive they were in the 80's and I'm pretty sure hers is an original, or close to.
I know she's wealthy because she told me once that she'd had cosmetic dentistry that cost $28,000. And not
recently.

A Motorola T180 I got when I was in year 9 in 2002 and was ridiculed for not having snake on my phone.

A remember having so few contacts that I had emergency services on speed dial.
