we have a games thread and there is probably not much life in this thread but for all of us over a certain age who can remember life without windows or other operating systems, what was your first computer?

I wish i knew how to post pics but i don't cos i'm stupid lol. My first 'computer' if anyone can remember it was called a Phillips G7000, it had a keyboard and everything, why i don't know because you couldn't use it, it was a gaming machine that took cartridges in the back and had square graphics. It was out about the time of the atari.

Then I had a amstrad cpc464 computer again witha keyboard and everything, who remember this -

10 print "everton are great"
20 goto 10
run

and it would scroll everton are great up the screen. That was as far as my basic programming skills got haha. all my mates had spectrums and commodore 64's. in them days you could pirate games by tape to tape copying them and they all made that mad sound when taking 4hours to load a game , oh the days.

So who can remember their first 'computer'

I had some kind of sub-Atari 2600 TV console, **** knows what make, that played Pong and some variations on it and stuff like that.

Then I had a Spectrum +. The one with the plastic keys, not the rubber ones. Loved the Speccy. Twas ace. Programmers in them days had to be so innovative to get what they did out of 48k of memory.

very true kids don't know how good they have it with games machines these days, like Blue1 says 48k memory and block graphics but we loved it at then time, games were simple and addictive. Its all about cosmetics these days not enjoyment
