Edward Hopper - Early Sunday Morning (1930)

I was lucky enough to see a Hopper exhibition in Madrid a couple of years ago and it blew my mind.

The raft of Medusa, 1818, its almost 9ft x 11ft! The scale makes it look incredible.

An excellent thread.
I studied Art history right through from the early religious church funded masterpieces, right through to modern art and the current post modern era that we have been in since the end of the pop art movement.

I would ultimately struggle to name a favourite piece of art. So manypaintings have inspired me over the years and I love visiting galleries all over the world.

One painting that just left me speechless though was Rembrandt's Night Watch which I saw in my late teens in Amsterdam. The shear scale and majesty of the painting is breathtaking. I sat transfixed for a full 15 minutes taking it all in. I hope to take my son to see it when he is older.

haha, I was going to come and post either that, Van Gogh's "Starry Night", or J.M.W. Turner's piece I saw at the Neue Pinakothek in Munich whose name eludes me.
