Firstly, only a support so daft could forget that it was putting Scholes on the left that led to his international retirement. Some move that was. Do it to Rooney then.
Clyne is a decent player, if he was fit I'd put Hibbert right back, he can certainly defend better than Johnson and would probably end up scoring too.

to be honest, i kinda hope Barkley doesn't play (certainly not start)...its a tough group, one I'm not sure England will get out of, and its gonna be seriously hot over there....not sure Barkley is ready for this yet...he'll be crucified by the media if he makes any costly mistakes (and he will make mistakes, we've all seen enough of him to realise that)....the heat is bound to effect his energy levels, so can he go on a long break away run like he did against Newcastle?...at everton he's given almost a free role in midfield/behind the striker, and is protected by McCarthy and Barry behind him (i don't think Gerrard and Henderson will give him that same protection, so if he loses the ball he may not get bailed out)....
an impact sub might be the ideal spot for Barkley at this world cup, let him be the star at the European Championships in 2 years...
