Your choice for new scapegoat next season?

Nothing like a bit of optimism going into the new season!
Well quite.

I'm all for booing, but only when it's deserved, not toward a pre-determined target.

I know this thread was started in jest, but I feel it's close to the truth to be honest. There's summat wrong with that if it's the case.

Maybe a boo or two for Bobby if he starts this season the same as last.

I don't really agree with booing players per say but certainly okay to booing performances. Should always let our feelings be heard at half and full time whatever the result.

The more interesting question is who's going to stop being a scapegoat.

We already have Barry, Naismith, Osman, and Howard... now that Cleverly has been added he automatically jumps to the top of that list, so one of them will have to be promoted from "turbogash" to "not good enough".

Now that Luke Garbutt has signed after all the talk of him being offski, i can see a few biding their time ready to bite. All that anger that was ready to be dished out when he turned up playing in red, can now be let out with venom right after his first misplaced pass.

Osman then Cleverley and Deulofeu by Christmas with an occasional irrational hatred for Rom and Ross too. Standard Everton.

With Garbutt signed and Baines starting to decline, I nominate Baines. He's our new old Cahill.

I'd say we've got 3 camps.

Safe - Jagielka, Stones, Baines, Garbutt, Coleman, Oviedo, McCarthy, Besic, Mirallas, Gibson, Pienaar (when they're fit).

Rocky ground - Howard, Robles, Barry, Naismith, Lukaku, Barkley, Deulofeu

Imminent boo risk - Cleverley, Osman, Kone, McGeady.

The rocky ground players should never get booed, nor Cleverley or Osman. Nobody should get booed really but if we have to pick, Kone and McGeady for me.
I'd agree with you on the three in bold being safe, but all three have been hammered by mind-boggling criticism this season from some on here. I actually think that they are in the firing line, and completely undeservedly IMHO.

We did finish 11th mate.

If Barkley at least looks like he's trying and committed, he'll be forgiven, but if he doesn't he's favourite to be scapegoat(if he gets a game).
