Young defenders

I've heard an enormous amount about some of our younger players, could this be the Moyes batch of youngsters to all come through at the same time;

Hope
Lundstram
Barkley
Baxter
Silva
Vellios

However I think the above players will be slowly bedded into the squad and later allowed a crack at the 1st team (Barkley being the initial exception)...

I'd like to focus on our defenders;

I undestand Garbutt has been playing left midfield with Bidwell at left back, although Garbutt can aso play left back as he does for England.

I'd be interested in peoples thoughts on whether these 4 can step up to become cover players for our centre backs and Baines;

Duffy -- massive hype before his injury and apparently Burnley want him for next season
Mustafi -- When we signed him my Hamburg friends were distraught
Bidwell -- Sounds like he's fantastic for Everton but Garbutt left back for England
Garbutt -- Ken Bates gutted when we got him -- is he 'that' good ?

How long till we see if these guys can be good cover or even push our established players to the side ?

There's also Hammar, who's a centre-back/defensive midfielder and the possibility of getting Dier on a permanent basis.

I think Garbutt will push the 18 this upcoming year.. From what I've heard he is quite decent.

Duffy/ Mustafi have sort of fell off the radar haven't they?

I'm not up to speed on Bidwell..

Totally forgot about Hammar....Dier I assumed was going back to Sporting as there was no update on him ?

Love to know peoples views on Duffy / Mustafi / Bidwell / Garbutt stepping up to the first team...

One moment Duffy was in the Ireland squad and next hes not getting a game at Burnley...
Mustafi -- nothing much recently.
Bidwell -- someone likened him to Hibbert
Garbutt -- Some people are comparing him to Baines...

Next season Rodwell will still be just 20 years old -- amazing to think he was just 15 what seems like a short time ago!!

come through we'll be laughing.....

I'm really keen to hear about our defenders though as Jagielka and Baines are likely the only 2 likely to be here still in the next couple of years....if would be good to hear if we had any young lads who could step up.

due to our lack of funds we're gunna need some of this youth to come through.
hopefully next season one of those strikers becomes the next big thing and a couple of those defenders as back-ups.

Thats why I'm particularly keen to learn about Duffy and Mustafi as it seems like potentially we may lose Yobo and Heitinga + possibly Distin.

Also do we need to buy cover or Baines or can Bidwell / Garbutt be slowly integrated ?
