I see an American has it.

They should've isolated the places with it. No one in and no one out until it's gone.

*gett Ebola on, FFS!! etc....

The man is (last I checked) in stable condition in Dallas, having flown from Liberia and lied on his exit documents. Not sure why any airline would serve Liberia at this time in the first place, but I guess that's a different story. As many as 100 people are being tracked in the US for contact with this person (not releasing the names; not all may be in the Dallas area), and I'm not aware that any of the contacts have yet shown signs of the virus.

By the statistics of the infectious nature of Ebola, it's probable that ~2 of his contacts will be infected. If this cases follows the stats, the next cases would most likely to be in those 15-20 contacts that were initially indentified - highest likelihood going to the famliy he stayed with while symptomatic and the healthcare workers.

As this inititial group of ~20 (not the wider 100 number) are all being monitored and/or quaratined and none are showing symptoms at this time, I'd say there is only minimal chance of this case going beyond this second level of transmission.

I say this, not knowing the type of contact (therefore risk of transmission) he had with individuals in this wider group of 100. You could summize that as this is the secondary group health officials are trying to contact, they also believe transmission was less likely, but this is how Ebola is stopped -- identification, monitoring and (potential) isolation of contacts of symptomatic patients.

That doesn't mean it doesn't create fear in naive masses. I'm not speaking from personal experience, but there may or may not have been someone driving from Little Rock to NW Louisiana yesterday that made sure to turn South from Texarkana, AR, before crossing the state line into Texarkana, TX, wholly upon baseless fear and with disregard to reason and probability.
