Been listening to the same xmas songs for the last 30 years and they are just boring. You never hear "Wombling Merry Christmas" by the Wombles, just Shakin Stevens, Mariah Carey etc a load of old drivel. By the way "Merry Christmas"

They're all [Poor language removed], except Fairytale of New York.

End of.

Although I don't mind Merry Xmas war is over.

Fairytale Of New York is the one I like most. Followed by Wizzard -" I wish it could be Christmas Everyday" because it's a fun tune and Roy Wood is a genius

I liked that until I saw a documentary on some weird bloke who literally celebrated Christmas every day. It just makes me think of him now.

Such cynicism in one so young. Only a fool would dismiss Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) by Darlene Love or Just Like Christmas by Low. I happily play them in July. Fairytale of New York is undoubtedly inspired but it's all played out with me. If I didn't hear it again for ten years I'd maybe reach for it at some point.

Other than those, Lennon, Slade and Wizzard surely came up with three perennial classics (I know someome who actually prefers Macca's Wonderful Christmas Time to Lennon's song, the weirdo). Run DMC's Christmas in Hollis is pretty ace too. Never quite understood the fuss about The Waitresses' Christmas Wrapping, pleasant thought it is.

They're not all [Poor language removed] mate, just a bit of hyperbole, but in my opinion Fairytale is just so much better than the rest. Slade's is good fun, Merry Xmas war is over is a classic, etc etc. But I personally think Fairytale is to Christmas songs what Messi is to 21st century football; so much better than the rest, it's embarrassing.

To each his own though. Whatever gets you in the festive spirit :P
