Your mistake was going home after you were released early. Could have spent a nice couple hours at the pub
 
I work as a factory maintenance engineer. the plant's shut down there's nothing to breakdown and not enough time to do any meaning full preventitive work.
But will they let you have an early dart? will they [Poor language removed]
We once got told to bail at 20 mins to finishing time after spending 7.5 hrs keeping out of the way / looking busy
by the time we had gathered all the gear anfd washed up it was 5 to the hour

It was the same for me, only problem is that the firewall won't let me get on the GOT forum or surf porn, so i wrote some lovely emails to my family and surfed google images for dodgy pics of the missus. Walked out at 4.30 eventually, same story today :)
