I think it might be the game itself mate, I have had the same problem and so has my mate. If I want to play it I have to keep ejecting the disk when the game freezes and then just keep trying it and it should eventually work.

toothpaste lad.. serious fixed mine [ps3 disc]
whipe round leave it 2 mins wash it off . problem solved

This works mate, needs to be aquafresh toothpaste though, if you try colgate it'll burn a layer off the disc and wont work at all.
