WWC USA and Japa

i wouldn't have minded as much if it was a real upset, but the US beat themselves today. we bossed them but made shocking errors in defense. Japan's second goal was tremendous so credit to them for that, but we screwed up letting them back into the game and bringing it to overtime.

Kay likes to use the USWNT and the USMNT lol .. I get your drift.

United States Womens National Team.......

You got it 100% right! I just use our acronym as other than "The Yanks" we don't really have a nickname. And I kinda hate that one. So the jumbly acronym it is.

Regardless of the bummer the result was for the US, that was a GREAT game. And I was pleased at the fact the bar I was at was packed with people who had followed the team and knew what they were talking about. And brought friends. Soccer (football!) is on a true uptick out here. It's awesome.

Bummer for the US who shot themselves in the foot defensively (and with crappy finishing - the game could, and should, have been a rout) and then kicked what I thought were the worst penalties (until I saw the shocker that was Brazil).

However, kudos to Japan for hanging in there and kicking some of the best penalties. Hard to feel totally bummed about losing to such a classy team that played well with a fantastic story (now if we had lost to the cheating diving Brazil I would have been pissed).

Well done ladies, well done.

Tivoed it. Hell of a game. When was the last time a mens final was this good? Well in to Japan who the announcers said only has 25K registered women's footie players. As a nation I think we have 1 million.

The Japan-Barca comparisons are a little much though. I didn't see Japan dive once.

If Arsene has a thing for younuns then I could see Tony Pulis feeling funny down there every time Abby Wambach is on the pitch.
