Following on from the Utd thread, who are the players who should've had a great international career, but were hampered by other players ahead of them, or their national side being poor at the time?

Or in the case of Ray Parlour, the existence of Eileen Drury.
 

George Best is probably the best example.

One of the greatest players ever but never had a chance to strut his stuff on the international stage in any meaningful way due to geography.
 

Fowler, Andy Cole, Ian Wright.

All would have been regulars for England in a different time
Yes, no, yes.

For all his goals, particularly at Utd, Cole was just someone who poked the ball into the net from high frequency, high quality supply. Never impressed me in the slightest as a footballer.

In my opinion.
