I think it's cellophane based, which is derived from cellulose. I expect sellotape is a trade name from an early manufacturer.

Tis my guess.

I always thought it was one word, cellotape. But I saw cello tape and sellotape, not what I need at my age.

Did all mine on Saturday afternoon with It’s A Wonderful Life on in the background. Had a few challenging shapes to deal with, but was using Sainsbury’s paper which has grid lines on the inside - a massive help. Even so, TF it only needs doing once a year.

Guessing again, but I reckon cello tape is used for repairing largeish stringed instruments.

I hold the sellotape and cut bits off. Even then she complains it’s too long or too short.

By the way, I first wrote Cellotape but it didn’t look right, so I googled it and apparently there’s huge debate over the correct spelling of said tape.
Worth a thread on its own I think.

Top tip, only buy CD's, DVD's and calendars as they are easy to wrap. Anything thicker than an inch then it starts to be a problem
