Didnt like 96% of Crimean people vote to join Russia? Leave them to it.

As soon as Russia go into mainland Ukraine though. Oh hell no Vladimir you saucy devil.

The election was rigged to make it look higher but there is overwhelming evidence that Crimea wants to be part of Russia.

Its the poor area of a rather poor country. Ukraine is better off without them. If anything Crimeans made their own bed. South Ossetians are supposedly not too happy with Putin right now (then again Putin could be the least worse option - I know nothing of Gerogia).

- I know nothing of Georgia.

Georgia is doing ok and may yet play a critical part in Russia/EU/West relationships.

Irakli Garibashvili (Georgian PM) knows the direction he wants to take Georgia - he's very pro-business, wants to improve the living standards of his countrymen, and is very direct about Russia and her ambitions.

He's also very firm and critical (of Russia's intent) about Ossetia and Abkhazia

Any response results in an economic hit. The real issue is whether NATO, the EU and USA retain credibility or just fold. The 'sanctions' issued so far are just a joke and Putin must be laughing his head off. Having said that, I have no problem with the Crimea going back to Russia. There should be a clear message given to Russia however that if your troops or tanks enter a NATO country they will be destroyed. No ifs no buts no dialogue. The UN needs to rule on the Ukraine as this is not a NATO issue and whatever they rule should be observed and enforced under normal UN mandates.......
