Worst game you've ever seen?

After a shocking weekend of football being capped off by that monotonous dirge last night it got me thinking, what's the worst game you've ever had the misfortune of watching? Either in the flesh or on the box, it doesn't matter.

1. Blackburn v Everton - Ewood Park, 2011.

Mikky's last goal/appearance for us, even though we ended up winning 1-0 it was completely soul destroying to watch, the whole squad looked like they barely knew each other, thoroughly depressing.

2. England v Algeria - World Cup 2010.

I don't think anything actually happened in this game, did it? Apart from Rooney getting a lip on.

The narrow 0-1 win over West Brom at the Hawthornes on New Years Day was f*cking diabolical too, Rodwell starting wide left.

*shudder*.

Obviously it was unbelievable when we won with a great penalty shootout finish and atmosphere, but as a football match us vs United in 2009 was absolutely dire.

1 - I was at that and my mate with me popped a gary during the game and came up on it. He enjoyed it better than anyone there. It was worth it for the ending though, boss journey home.

2 - Boss game, enjoyed every minute and spawned one of the best threads ever on here.

Take your pick.

Ukraine Vs Switzerland from the World Cup in I think 06. The game was a turgid 0-0 that went to peno's and then only 3 peno's were converted

Absolute horror of a football match

England Vs Algeria from World Cup 2010 was also awful

Liverpool Vs United in the 96 FA Cup Final was another shocking game of supossed "Football"

Everton 0 Leeds 0 in 96 or 97, or Everton 0 QPR 0 in 91 or 92.

Both terrible, the Leeds game probably more so solely because I had a wisdom tooth removed the day before and went to the game unable to drink, talk that much or indeed close my mouth.

These are non-everton ones

An FA Cup final years back (the year the glazers bought the club ) Arsenal vs. Man Utd. Arsenal put 10 men back, started an over the hill Lungberg at CF and the game finished 0-0 with about 3 shots on goal total whith Arsenal winning on pens.

Matches involving Switzerland in the group stage of the 2010 WC. They scored 1 goal (ironically beating spain) and only gave up one goal. 3 just painfully excruiating matches.

Moldova v Georgia, friendly in Chisinau in August 2010. 0-0 and had that scoreline written all over it from the first whistle.

Truly, truly dreadful.

England v Algeria in Cape Town wasn't much better. Neither was Israel v England in 2007.

Everton v Stoke about 5 years ago, around christmas. I think there was one shot all game from which Stoke scored. Having a wisdom tooth removed would've been a more enjoyable experience.

Harder question than what's the best book you've ever read - so many to choose from.

Arsenal away late 90s stands out for me - sort of hazy memories due to the misery but what I recall is:

1. We got absolutely hammerered 4-0. Their final goal coming from Tony Adams FFS walking through our defense.
2. Slaven Bilic is a shytehouse.
3. That meant we were getting relegated next week.
4. They won the league on that game and were a very good side, but couldn't stomach clapping them off or anything and left Highbury in a black depression.
5. Seeing some Arsenal fan get comprehensively filled in on the tube after him saying we were going down (he was talking friendly with some Blues then made an off-hand remark and immediately got battered).

Remember at the time being really angry at our performance and how we let ourselves down, but with hindsight it's obvious there was an enormous gulf between the two teams. We would have done well to win that game once if we played it 100 times.
Ended up staying up by an erse hair so got away with it.

I know this is professional probably but here in the states about 6 years ago they were showing the NCAA division one uni championship for the ladies playing in a bar I was at with a mate. these were the best women in the states in a uni.

it was the singular worst game I've ever seen. quite possibly of any sport too. ive seen 8 year old teams play better. My mate still cringes when I mention that game.
