Worst England Side

Gotchya. I remember Rooney once saying (prior to the 2010 WC) that he really enjoyed playing with Heskey, but I could never figure out why. Defoe was 10x the striker at that moment in time. Luckily when we played yous, Capello started Heskey and subbed on Crouch instead. Lolz.

I think as a quicker forward playing with Heskey would be OK. He was ok at holding it up sort of thing. Not much else thought the fat lummux.

When he was young at Leicester he was immense though weirdly. But slowed badly the older he got.

Sol Campbell is a mad shout, great player he was.

Geoff Thomas, he wasn't though.

What did everyone think of Emile Heskey? I always thought he was total crap, but he had over 60 England caps. Wasn't ever sure how considering he appeared to be the English Altidore.
He's the sort of player who should make an all time worst England eleven. There's been many many players who were nowhere near international standard, got a couple of caps and a nice day out, something to tell the grandkids, no problem. The real dross responsible for England misery are the average players who somehow cement themselves into a shirt and become a fixture of the side - Gerrard and John Barnes being great examples. Both great players for the RS, if I'm honest, but sustained [Poor language removed]-house mediocrity for England.

Heskey played on the left against someone (Argentina I think) and did alright. This bestowed upon him a fake value of versatility which contributed to his continued selection. He's also a big lad and we're still somewhat preoccupied with physicality. Though that can't really explain Capello and Sven's love. In short, long after the mystery of the universe's origin has been resolved the enigma of heskeys career will live on.
