In recent memory, well nearly 11 years now I'd have to go with Sheamus Coleman. Played against Benfica in the Europa and got absolutely rinsed at LB lost the ball every opportunity couldn't tackle to save his life and kept getting beat. It was a horror show. We lost 5 -0 n'all. I was looking out for him since he came from Ireland for 60k. I was 100% made up he was out of his debt. Didn't think he would play for us again.

Then in a match v spurs we were belted with injuries and during the game Hibbert had to move centre back and Coleman came in at RB. He tore up that wing, assisted one and prity much assisted the other getting MOTM.

interesting short interview of him talking about the goodison prem debut.

But yeah that Benfica game was like a massacre.

Think of anyone?

I remember watching the Everton - Chelsea 3-6 game on TV with some non-Evertonian mates. Besic comes on for his debut, I turn to them and say “here we go, this guy is going to be boss for us” (based on nothing but his Pre-season performances), and within moments he tries that stupid flick, loses possession and we concede again. All my mates start laughing at me. Cheers for that Mo.

He did absolutely own Lionel Messi before signing.

Not sure if it was his debut, but I remember Gary Stevens trying a fancy flick in injury time at home to Cov in the league Cup, instead of launching it into row z. A mistake that led to an equaliser. He did alright after that, I bet Howard gave him a right bollocking.
The moral of the story is, don't try nutmegging Tommy Hutchinson.
