Worst city you've ever visited...

The places I've enjoyed the most have been the more multicultural cities, the melbournes and vancouvers, people willing to accept the world is getting smaller, and even embracing it, with some exceptions of course, the ignorant will have there say, again and again and again. No doubt they have plenty of isolated 'the other day my mate....' stories to make about generalised subjects, always the last hope of the agenda driven or truly ignorant.

I have a huuuuge inkling (because I know how tight immigration laws are in those countries) that the people who have moved there have moved there to embrace the society for which they have moved into be it first second or third generation. Brazil is probably the most multi cultural of places I have ever been to, and it was fantastic. Everyone was so happy and proud of being Brazilian. Multi culturalism can work and has worked all over the world with varying successes. The success is largely down to the people migrating, and also to some extenet the native people already living there. To say multi culturalism has failed in Britain isn't 'ignorance' or the fault of the 'nasty white man not liking different people', it is the fault of unplanned mass immigration where a large proportion of the immigrants do not wish to identify with the country they live in and only to associate with the values for which they originated from. You seem to think native people must bend over backwards to accommodate immigration, for immigration to be successful. BOLLOCKS. It is you who is 'ignorant' and dismissive and ultimately part of the division.

RUNCORN FFS RUNCORN IS GASH.

no way the worst I've visited, not by a long shot but was disappointed with Leon in Nicaragua

was apparently the heartbeat of the Sandinista revolution, and was a rival of the more conservative Granada for many years, the government ended up making the capital in Managua (which possibly IS the worst city I've been to) just to stop them arguing about it

I was expecting big things of Leon, but found an air of snobbishness, tables reserved but not for me, and a general feel of "you're not from around here are you"

the supposedly more "colder" Granada I actually found to be much more welcoming, the people were genuinely happy to talk to visitors although the petty crime rate was far more noticable here

visitors tip, if ever in Nicaragua, head for San Juan Del Sur x

Even the right wing press seem to be against London, probably for quite different reasons, as we heard on this very thread...
'London is bloody ace. The areas that arnt over run with immigrants'
Quite sad, and actually made me soften my stance on London a little bit, I mean the food is very good, everyone loves the different resturants, but will be damned if you're going to bring parts of your culture with that aren't as convenient for them, no, the little englander's will only be happy when you are serving them.
Fair play to London on that score, perhaps there is hope for the City

I've been to Kiev a couple of times and out into the countryside which is lovely, but yes as you get close to the Chernobyl area it becomes desolate - understandably - and strange. When I was there, there was practically no birdlife and it was really, really quiet, eerie almost.
Kiev and the Chernobyl 'zone' are poles apart despite their close proximity....both leave a lasting impression on a visitor for completely different reasons.

Bulgaria. Absolute dog of a country. Drove from Sofia across the Balkans towards the Black Sea and saw so many grim things. Spent just under a week working there and it felt like a lifetime. Been to scarier places, but none as horrible as Rural Bulgaria.
Ras Al Kheema and Sharjah in UAE left a lot to be desired as did Oman, and downtown Johannesburg was a little on the edge at night time.

Have worked in various city,s as translator.
Worst in UK was Grimsby when I worked for the coastguard.
Worst in other part of the world were Sarejevo in what was Yogoslavia, and also Freetown in Sierra Leone, when I was with the army.

It's not a city but worthy of a mention - Cannock.

Anybody ever been? Wow.... absolute dive, talk about the middle of nowhere. Dangerously near Aston, a melt stronghold - probably the worst air quality in the UK to boot.

Earlier this year I moved there for a job in which I got sacked after just 24 days. So moved back, and as far as I'm concerned it was just a horrible dream - which strangely involved Everton throwing away a 2-goal lead against Arsenal and signing Samuel Eto'o.....

Clarkson may be a Premier League standard gobshyt, but he wasn't lying when he said Cannock was the worst town in the UK.
