World Club Cup winner donations

Bedfordblue

Player Valuation: ¥50m
So Chelsea players have apparently donated a large sum of money to Jotas family.
I’m not sure how I feel about it as I’m sure they are already incredibly wealthy.

Would such a grand gesture not be better donated to speed awareness or other charitable causes 🤔

What do the wise sages of GoT have say on this matter?

There will always be someone ‘more deserving or in need’ but a good thing is still a good thing.
Is it a good thing though? What tangible ‘good’ is there to anyone involved?

Reputational benefit for the Chelsea squad?
LFC paid out the last 3 years of his contract (or their insurers did) worth £21m so another £500k or whatever will do what ‘good’ for the family that they didn't already have sorted?

To some extent I can see the brothers family getting looked after as a good thing, if they weren’t already, but what about the emergency workers having to recover their bodies, I can’t imagine that was an especially nice or forgettable experience for them.

Just doesn’t sit right with me.

Done with good intentions then, I should’ve said.

I completely get where you’re coming from, but can also understand why anyone involved in football was completely shaken by what happened, and they’ve decided they wanted to help out.

Like I said, you could point at anyone and go “why not give the money to them”

But this would’ve hit really close to home for these players who’ve decided to donate to it.
