Work survey

A question every year on our annual survey is 'do you enjoy coming to work?'. When the results come back, usually showing about 10% saying yes, there's always a big inquest as to why it's not higher. For me, I don't hate it but would much rather stay in bed so can't ever confess to looking forward to going to work whatever job I've ever done. So what says GOT? Are you in the 10%, are you like me or do you despise what you do?
Rather go fishing. It is fine. I once had a job that I really looked forward to and nothing has equalled it since.

Can’t say I enjoy it, the actual job is fine but dealing with customers, office staff, managers, busy bodies who think they are important but don’t know their arse from their elbow... well, it’s tiresome. I’m still only in my
Mid thirties but I’ve been in engineering my whole adult life and think I’m too far gone to try something else.
I changed careers when I was 32/33. Very glad I did as I'm much happier in my work now. I was quite lucky though as an oportunity arose in a field I wanted to move in to at a time I was looking to change. But I took a paycut to do it, and took a few years to work back up, but was defo worth it.

I enjoy work if I enjoy the people I work with. Less kopites and more crazy folk the better.

Most jobs am guessing are dull and no matter what you do you finish on a Friday and get drunk and wait for the blues. It’s all down to the people you work with for me.

I'm supposed to be in charge of a group of people that was already too small for the workload. 2 have gone off as they were allocated to jobs elsewhere that were more urgent priority at short notice, 1 has gone off sick with stress and is now also recovering from an operation. Meanwhile, another section has offloaded a couple of large tasks onto me at very short notice.

Now I have one guy on part time as he's retiring and another doing one essential job to get the thing to work (actually the only one doing something useful to my mind) before he goes off to another project he has been promised to, leaving me on my own to get it all done by myself. Add to this that I just got offered the job I'm doing as a staff role (I'm contracting currently) for 5% less than the offer was going to be before lockdown and for 10% more hours and less pension and less holiday entitlements, needless to say I am a bit hacked off.

I was sat with 3 planners yesterday asking me who was going to do the work over the next 3 weeks. I had to point out that the only person available was me to do it, and that this had been said a number of times. The only response so far is to get in more planners. It's like a bad comedy sketch. On setting realistic deadlines (ie ones that are still unfeasible but at least fall before the deadline for the project), one of the planners in that meeting put in 2 design reviews over the next 2 weeks that will require a couple of days prep for each. I'd laugh if it wasn't so awful.

So put me in the ****ed off category.

Aren't planners fantastic, i had a phone call yesterday saying weve got 15 jobs outstanding that need completing tpday or we lose the contract, so i relocate a lad from a different area and tell them to rearrange another lad s work freeing 2 up to get the jobs done. Then i get a phone call from the lead planner kicking off because they rearranged a test which needed doing that day, i looked on the target date an it wasnt due untill jan 21.

My other planner cant read, im convinced of it.
