Work permits

I think the whole work permit thing is a bit of a joke, we seem to always struggle with it and other clubs breeze through it, perhaps they have better legal teams than we have.

I remember hearing years ago that when Tim Howard signed for Man Utd that he should not have qualified for a work permit, but somehow they managed to get him one. Dodgy process

Lots of factors tho really.

I would think the main 1s being the fee we paid and the fact that 1 is Nigerian and the other is from Brazil.
I think the Brazil/Nigeria thing is the key here. Players from teams higher up the rankings have to do less to get a work permit. It makes sense because it’s much easier to be a good player and get the required caps for Nigeria than it would be for the equivalent player to get the same number of caps for Brazil.

Most Brazilians hold European passports dating from the family lineages they have. Hence, no need for work permits.

I can assure you that most Brazilians qualify (not hold, sorry) for a European passport of some description because of the laws over there.

it's not the laws in Brazil that enable them it's the laws in the EU & countries they have ties with.

there are a lot that are entitled to them tbh, similarly there are a lot of Argentinians that also qualify.
