Doesn't quite work like that. My mate's sister did it literally to feed her family and ended up owing a serious amount. She had no other option, she wasn't happy to do it.
Why not use a food bank?

cant you only use them twice a year? maybe she already had.Why not use a food bank?
that's terrible that. it may sound daft but couldn't help for heroes do anything in this type of situation? awful from the army that though.I got into a wonga/payday loan nightmare once. I had returned from Iraq and the Army had seriously messed up my pay and overpaid me by a few grand (sounds a lot, but you expect to come home to a decent amount with pay and bonus's) I had only been in the army a few years so wasn't on a lot and, being 20, checked my bank account and went a bit stupid. 6 months later I get called to the admin office and told I owed two and a half grand and they were taking it off me in one go. (No pay one month, and 300 pounds the following month). I asked why I couldn't pay back in installments and they gave no decent answer. When I asked for advice about bills, rent etc, they said 'get a loan'.
Being in the army does not help your credit score at all and I had to resort to payday loans two months running with different company's. It took me nearly a year to get back to normal and literally pissing all over my credit score. Meanwhile, constant phonecalls and letters from collection agency's. People even turned up at my dads house, horrible, horrible time in my life. But hey, lesson learned, always check your pay slips and never ever trust the British Army to look after you.

I dunno maybe she's thick. I think there were bills to be payed as well, probably.

awful that mate. You would be surprised at how great the army is at screwing over the boys. I was just a young lad then, fresh in, I regret not kicking up a fuss which I certainly would have a few years in.
You would be better phoning the company (Bill payments) to tell them you are struggling rather than get a loan like that
How many people take out Wonga loans for a new tv or xbox one for the kids? Bet its a shed load and will be the same ones who moan about the payments
Surely she already would have? They'd stop listening after the first couple of times I imagine.
Yeah of course, anyone who does that is thick and shouldn't complain, but a lot of people do it because they have no other choice (or think they don't).
Wonga and the likes should be illegal. They're ruining lives by targeting vulnerable people in desperate situations.
So its there last option?
What happens when that is taken away then?
You already said she would have contacted the companies and her family needed feeding, What would she do?
I thought today's news that Wonga have previously written to up to 45,000 customers in arrears, fictitiously purporting to be law firms chasing collection is disgraceful.

The bigger question is why there are no prosecutions for fraud? Totally scandalous!
Very good news that the City of London Police are re-considering a criminal investigation.............
