Sky and the BBC have been all over this current Ashes series. Often it's leading their news bulletins during games. And of course Sky showing every ball live.

But why?

It is utter garbage, and to call it (women's cricket) a minority sport in this country is an understatement.

How many times have you gone past some playing fields and seen women playing cricket?

There are so many dedicated sports women out there plying their trade that we never get to hear about, unless it's the Olympics.

Look at all the medals they won in London.

Those are the ones that should be getting reported on. Not these hopeless, slogging split arses lobbing pies down at eachother.

I am very curious what their protection boxes smell like after a good century knock though

You wouldn't all be feeling so smug if a woman batsman was smacking your crap bowling all round the park.;)

Perfectly decent sport and good luck to them all.

To give an example of the level of women's cricket, a recently retired women's NZ captain played in our local club competition, 2rd grade (grades go Premier, Seniors, 2nds, so 3rd tier), and rarely scored anything significant.

She was considered one of the best players in the world whilst she was captain.

In other words, it's beyond awful.

However, if people want to watch it, and Sky pay to broadcast it, good luck to them!

The men's ashes this year is brilliant
You can't blink and you miss a wicket
Both teams taking it in turns to be [Poor language removed] but it is great to watch and even listen to on the radio when in the car
Can't wait for Trent bridge this week prob Australia win as it's their turn to play well
Then the final test at the oval in two weeks hopefully England's turn again
Not as good as 2005 and other but there's no footy on so I think it's boss

How on earth does dross like women's cricket or women's football get screen time, but proper fast, skilful stuff like women's hockey doesn't? Christ, even men's cricket is pretty dull - you can sky+ it, fast forward through 70% of it and still see every exciting moment.

At home doing some decorating, and part of the preparation work has been to watch some of the women's Ashes Test. Day 1 at Canterbury. Have certainly found it interesting to watch. Knowing Canterbury as I do, I can see that the boundary ropes are in about 10 yards compared to the men. The England seamers are getting plenty of swing and seam, but at speeds of 63-66mph, it does look very gentle at times.
