This really has taken a ridiculous twist now hasn't it? And a sinister one really.
They're now the "victims" of a Maoist "cult". FFS. How lame is this case going to get? "Slaves" who can come and go as they please and frig off anytime they want away from "the slave house"...and now we learn the "slave owners" were a couple of washed up ex-Communist party members who let them stay in the house (oh sorry, "brainwashed them") for free.
