Up. And down. Up. And down. Up. Up. You'll not thank me for starting the thread comparing our last six game sequence with a cheap Venga Boys analogy but there, it's done now.
Bit harsh that from me as since the turn of the year we've been mostly ace. At home we've been stunning but we were short of a really big away win, Arsenal was close and I'm not alluding to City being the massive club they clearly believe but their record speaks for itself at home this season. Or should I say, it spoke for itself.
Even the most sceptical of blues must be looking at that league table and thinking that euro qualification might be on. Naturally at the expense of them lot across the park would be the ideal scenario but it's fair to see we have a considerably easier run in than those were looking to suck in. We'll see.
One thing we need to do is claim the points without excuse and a trip to Molyneux has to count as three points we should go for. It would be a disrespect to Wolves to talk about turning up and taking them without any sort of battle as they have raised a few eyebrows with a stoical season back up in the Premiership, sat 7 points clear of the relegation zone. No easy measure so credit to McCarthy there, they are also on the back of really good seven points from their last three matches against West Ham, Villa and Burnley so confidence will not be in short measure here.
They do, consistent with the 1970s Midlands, have some right zany fans who like to try and fulfil their little Danny Dwyer fantasies, as I marvelled last time at three of their lids trying to haymaker a group of young Everton lads outside their ground. So there you have it, watch out, you'll know them by their gold chains outside their Pringle jumpers. Not one punch landed incidentally much to amusement.
It's likely a nap that Everton will line up similar to who started at City with the only doubt being Tim Howard who was either in a lot of pain or, for the cynical minded of you, putting on a bit of a blag show to gain some time and allow us a rare visit back to the 1980s with a centre half tw*tting the ball from goal kicks. Despite the pre match anxiety of Osman being on the right of midfield that five in the middle had some fluidity about their play and moved the ball well. Obviously being harried in possession by the lesser chinned S. Ireland is not quite the same as having D. Jones kicking you up the hoop while you're in possession.
So, as with every game left, big game this.
