Player Valuation: £25m

I know we tried something similar with our Li Tie (and Li Weifeng) deals, but wow, £595,000 for that much exposure is incredibly shrewd business.

To put things into perspective, it cost around £200,000 to have a 30 second advert during the 2013 X-Factor final and the reach was only 9.75 million. Wolfsburg got a full press conference for what they paid.

Basically, its likely that Wolfsburg have made that money back (and more) already through hits on their newly launched Chinese site, Chinese merch sales, etc.

If he can play, well, that's just a bonus now.

On a bit of a related note, I had a little look at the number of followers some of the prem clubs had on twitter.

Everton have about 400,000.

Arsenal 4.9m
Chelsea 4.8m
Utd 3.9m
RS 3.6m
Man City 2.2m
Spurs 975,000

Poor show really.

Every one of the Africans I play footy with supports either Arsenal or Chelsea, mainly Arsenal. Think it's due to them signing a lot of top African/African French players.
