“Are you the farmer?” 👨‍🌾🚜
Home alone tonight, and watching this - it's my usual MO when I have the place to myself, and it's my absolute favourite film. I probably watch it about four times a year on that basis. So quotable, and a great bit of British cinema. Any other fans on GOT, and if so, 'do you grow?', and are you a sponge or a stone? And if not, never mind, season starts tomorrow...

@aazak, have you been at the controls?
My head went numb years ago! The whole thing is so good the whole way through, it stood up to endless watching and quoting.
A not all that interesting, but true, story:
One of my mates called to see us last summer wearing a Penrith Tea Rooms teeshirt - I don't remember if I copped it or not, but then my wife says that's a coincidence because our other friend is in Penrith at the moment - at the country house of her new fella. So my mate explains the reference and then adds that the town he grew up in in Australia is also called Penrith.
Small world... but I wouldn't like to have to paint it.

Uncle Monty might be my most favourite film character ever "I think the carrot infinitely more fascinating than the geranium. The carrot has mystery. Flowers are essentially tarts. Prostitutes for the bees. There is, you'll agree, a certain je ne sais quoi oh so very special about a firm young carrot."
Richard Griffiths made that role his own, but you can say that about all of them. Bruce Robinson wanted Daniel Day Lewis for Withnail, but Richard E. Grant was perfect. Difficult to imagine any other actor in any of the roles.

Presumably there was cake and fine wine to accompany this discussion?
