Wise words from Keane

Bruce Wayne

Player Valuation: £100m
Roy Keane has delivered a damning indictment on the culture of modern-day football by attacking "soft" footballers whose careers he believes are shaped by 'Wags'.

Keane's recruitment campaign has been hit by a series of snubs and the former Manchester United midfield hard man last night vented his spleen. "We had a player this summer who didn't even ring us back because his wife wanted to move to London; he didn't even have the courtesy to pick the phone up to us and shopping was mentioned," Keane said.

"I can understand the attraction of London if you go to Arsenal, Chelsea, maybe Spurs, but there are players just going there because it's London and to me that's wrong, clubs with half the crowds and less attention. It's not a football move, it's a lifestyle move, and they're the type you don't want at your club anyway. It tells me the player is weak and his wife runs his life."

Quite right and I'm sure that's how Moyes sees it as well when dealing with some of the prima donnas that have turned us down for joker clubs.

This is going to do Keane no favors on the womens right front. This part made me laugh:

"This idea of the women running the show concerns me and worries me but it shouldn't because the players we're talking about are soft.

Families do play a part in decisions, the extent that Keane is talking about is absurd, moving for shopping........but really, he may need to learn how to carefully word his outbursts in the media in the future!!

Oh, and moving to World Football.

sorry Bruce, I mentioned this in response to a posting of yours in another thread, I had checked earlier if it was in world football or the ale house forumsbut no mention, you little divil hiding it here:lol:

By the way Keane is aboslutely correct in his assessment but it won't make a bit of difference men normally do what their wives tell them when it comes to things like that, 'if you go there I'll give you ear ache' syndromeb)

They should think themselves lucky they're married to a guy earning a small fortune really ;)

I liked his dig at Beckham at the start of the article too :D

Richly deserved and totally warranted (y) I wonder how he got on with those guys in the Man Utd dressing room, this may explain a lot about his departure from the Alderley Edge millionaires club:o ;)

Hes right to a certain extent, but its obvious players wifes and girlfriends are going to be a big factor behind any career and location move.

"We have had one or two players this year and their wives are clearly part of the package"

Am sorry Keane, but if thats come as a surprise to you, you better get used to it...

You'd think they were being asked to live in a [Poor language removed] hole though. Imagine your girlfriend/wife was offered a multi-million pound job in London and you said you weren't going because you wanted to stay close to Goodison. I dare say more often than not you'd be out on your ear.

Footballers have a short career and are paid vast sums for what they do. I can understand some concerns but given the wages these guys are on things like property, education, healthcare etc. are going to be good wherever they live so these girls need a reality check.

Perfectly sums up what Keane was getting at (y) (y) (y)

Little harsh on Beckham, he's been a great servant to this country both in his performances and the way he is raising the profile of the game.

But Posh Spice is a nightmare isn't she, but if she was shaping him, how come he hasn't gone to play for Milan or moved to London?

Anyway, back to Keane. This is the kind of guy we need in footy, says what the common says in the pubs. I hate the term WAGS and I hate the way these celebrity wannabes walk around like they are something special, like football owes them a living because at the moment it does. We are paying for their big glasses and Jimmy Choo shoes.

No more, I'm going to make it my personal goal in life to wipe every single WAG off the face of the planet, apart from Cashley Cole's missus cos she's fine. ;)

He doesn't half talk some wank sometimes, Keane. It's football not [Poor language removed] warfare.

Maybe he should try and manage a club that isn't in a cultural wasteland.

tbh if there are a set of fans that I may just have some sympathy for its those from Sunderland. They've had to put up with [Poor language removed] for years, new hopes continually dashed. In Keane they have a messiah, good luck to them, but not too much:P

Its spelt like this now, didn't you know? :D

I feel sorry for sunderland fans, imagine having to play second fiddle to the barcodes? jesus... at least our city rival won the CL and domestic cups recently... sunderland..... oh dear...

Bigger shops in USA, more persons who'll read about her when she's in the news.. and she's in there very often with her behaviour... especially when thretening to cut of Eddie Murphys "familyjoy".
