best way to deal with them is to refer to pornography quite a bit and through random anti whatever comments in their direction.

haha..it is like I am living the call again!
And I am getting some "Private number" calls again this week that are not talking when I answer the phone. The same pattern like when it happened a few weeks back. I am expecting another hit.

I've had a few of these, one from Bigpond (my ISP) who said he would cancel my account if I didn't cooperate so I told him to go ahead and I'd find a new ISP in the morning. He got quite shirty with me so I gave him both barrels waited for his fire up, then hung up.
The other have been 'Microsoft' and boy have I strung them on. They asked me to switch my computer on so I said which one and told him we have 4 laptops and a desktop, he picked one so I told him I'd turn it on then put the phone down and did something else. Kept him going for about 10 minutes telling him the computer was downstairs and I was upstairs and was going between the two. He hung up in the end thinking there was a communication problem.

Thanks for the Bigpond heads up too. Am also with Telstra. Never heard of this one. Was it an Australian accent on the other end or a Filipino?

The bigpond one if I remember was South East Asian, can't put my finger on the region though. Wasting their time is awesome fun.
Unrelated, but I got a call from some blert trying to tell me the Government owed my $7K they were clearly after information so all they were getting was yes and no from me. They then asked what my date of birth was so they can confirm its really me, so I said why don't you tell me what you've got on record and I'll confirm. They also wanted me to tell them what State I'm in even though they already have my address and postcode DOH! told them they could look that up and was surprised that they didn't know which postcodes are associated with which states (It's a very simple system). Went on for a few minutes after which they played the can't hear you properly act. I just said to them mail me the cheque. I'll update this post if I receive one, LOL but deffo not holding my breath.

Damn you really do get targeted!!
Telstra you will find have their centre in the Philippines. Would guess the calls are coming from there.
