Wind

It's not a place for serious posts this but I do think the weather is a hinderance to British players in comparison to Spanish players and others from warmer countries (Germany & Holland not included in that though).

Howard Kendall famously said the Gwladys Street would "suck" the ball into the net . If the opposition are attacking , the fans could turn around and have the opposite effect . Use wind to the team's advantage ;)

I think it's just a British trait, over the years it's sleays been hit it long, aim for the big man etc, as long as you give a 100% and have an engine your considered decent
Since more foreign managers/players have entered the British scene more technically gifted players are not frowned on as much but it will takes years before it takes full effect
Nailed it. I've always considered Steevie me one of the most over rated players in a long time. The 2 attributes you mention were what he had in abundance and combined with a modicum of technique and a good shot and you had the protoype of the ideal premier league player. Very good but never great.

In all seriousness this is bollocks in Holland the weather is about the same if not worse and we've never had issues with producing technically gifted players.

Do you get much rain there?

My lad is a signed player with a premier club academy so he's spoilt rotten with the facilities he uses but he's tried to train over the holidays whilst he's been off in preparation for going back today and it's been a nightmare, there's just no where to train as the weathers shocking & pitches are flooded. We've had to pay to use about 12 sq metres if poor quality 3G pitches.

The local teams haven't played league fixtures since November and looking at the forecasts, they won't be playing any time soon. It's there that the academies find kids and were the future footballers are coming from.

I spend 3 months of the year in Marbella and the facilities we have access to there, all year around for free, have opened my eyes to the restrictions English kids face in comparison to them at least.
