Will we ever get there again?

It's been 18 years and counting since we last won a trophy, and in that space of time it hasn't half been a roller coaster. From flirting with relegation to regular 5th place finishes and at one point even making it into the Champions League, only to be booted out due to some baldy corrupt goggle eyed bellend.
But anyway, I'm only a young supporter my self and I'm sure many other young supporters will join me in saying they wish, just wish they could see Everton being successful and well, boss, back in the 80's.

The point I am getting at, is will we ever become a regular title and cup challenger again, and even challenge on the European stage.
Obviously the financial side of the game is and has severely stopped us in the process of taking us to 'the next level' and being a consistently top 4 finisher. Now the question is, without investment in the near future, can we take that step up?
If we some how manage to finish in the top four and end up in the Champions League group stages it will obviously bring a lot more money into the club and also attract players, as we all know they often 'crave' Champions League football, which to be fair you understand, it is the best club competition in the world.

My question to everyone on here is though can we become title challengers in the next 10 years or so, and could by finishing 4th this season kick the whole process off. I'm sure we would have more of a chance to attract a buyer as well if we were in the Champions League.

Sorry if this is the same old boring story that appears on this forum every single week, but I'm a young blue who just wants to see us a successful side again, and how boss would it be to have gold premier league badges on our sleeves in 10 years time?
I think if any club at this moment in time deserves and craves success in the future it's us, we've put up with such sh*te over the years and yet we're still going, club and fans alike. Boss.

COYB.

In short no.
I‘m only a young blue meself but if we do get champions league and the money with it, its still buttons compared to what the likes of City and Chelsea can fork out for players. I would love it if we did lift the title soon(obviously) and it would be some achievement considering like. I live in hope that one day we can make the breakthrough but the reality is, as longs we‘re still skint with the same board we are going no-were. Which is a bit poo.. Oh modern football you **** :/

Not unless the "big" (as in owned, in the main by, squllionairers) clubs all feck off and set up their own Euro league and tell UEFA to do one. Not that arsed TBH, like Steet End says, modern footie stinks these days. Unless you are a Bradford fan tonight that is!

Probably not. (Just playing the numbers there.)

I am pretty sure that not making it this year will kick a whole different process off. One which I am not looking forward to at all.

I also don't think title contenders is possible without a new owner. A "Spurs or Arsenal level" side which is CL contending (but not practically guaranteed like Manchester clubs) club is a very slim possibility. We're still playing with one arm tied behind our backs compared with the likes of them.

Nah mate don't worry. I think you've hit on something. That for a certain set of supporters (not all ... but a lot) this season is the most important in decades. 95 was obviously great but there was nothing resting on winning the Cup ... it happened ... it was awesome ... but it didn't mean much for the future of Everton (obviously because the future has been largely bleak since then). A domestic Cup is fantastic (and for a lot of fans it's more important than finishing fourth) but I think even they will admit that while they would prefer it that it wouldn't have the impact on the club which making the CL would have. We don't get as much money as the CL and you don't attract that elite tier of players because you won the FA Cup last year. Maybe it should be more important in that regard ... but it isn't. Reality > a perception of what football *should* be like from the 70s and 80s.

So for those who think Moyes has plastered over the cracks of this board and we could be in serious trouble without him ... this is a huge year. (PFO to somewhere else to debate Moyes ... just leave it alone. I said "for those who think" ... if you don't think that way then great we'll take that as read thanks.)

For those who think Fellaini could drive us toward winning something again ... this is a huge year.

It's not impossible that Moyes signs again and even that Fellaini stays (unlikely) without fourth. That said we have been relatively stable this past decade (one really bad year but mostly top half) and I can't help but think it's either up or down after this year. At some point this has to break one way or the other and I think it looks likely to happen this year.
