Will this Germany team go down as one of the best ever?

I don't know how to judge international teams anymore. Spain skewed everything with their 2008-12 run.

This Germany side put in a few incredible performances, but the Algeria game sticks out as reason against putting them up there with the all-time greats.

I need to get used to seeing tournament winners not breeze through almost every game again.

spain was beaten by switzerland in the 2010 world cup, new zealand where the only unbeaten side in the tournament.

dont see why they shouldn't be. To win a world cup, remain unbeaten, hammer the hosts all without 4 or 5 first choice players really is an amazing achievement.

plus the fact most of these players have dominated European footy in the past 3 or 4 years

Again I refer to being the first European side to win it in South America, with their schedule. Just the sheer bollocks required to achieve that is reason enough to put them as the top three WC winners (with Brazil '58 and '70)
