Shameful. Amazon and PayPal are going to lose a lot of custom over this caving in to American Government pressure.

It's a joke really. Amazon will sell all kinds of books dedicated to people who've committed and still commit unlawful acts. Are they going to pull all them from their product search? Are they ****. Hypocrites.

Amazon were selling - and defending - a book basically called How to be a Pedophile the other week.

It's actually alarming how Wikileaks are being hunted down. That charge against the founder is obviously fradulent, and it's basically the USA acting in a totalitarian way.

Home of democracy indeed!

Spot on. It's so ham-fisted it's almost laughable. They declared in advance they'd 'get' wikileaks and Assange. How they hope to get away with that type of clampdown on whistleblowers is beyond me. It's a fundamental attack on liberty - the belief we can hold those in power to account. As for the corporate shithouses at PayPal and Amazon - I think they've badly miscalculated by getting involved in this.

You've got to remember Davek. Both are in US jurisdiction. They are 3rd party legal entities.

They have SHAREHOLDERS that they are answerable to.

They legally had to do this to meet their shareholder's interests.

THAT INCLUDES SMALL SHAREHOLDERS LIKE AVERAGE JO who's put his savings in (common in America) or SOMEONE, NOT JUST BIG INSITUTIONS.

WHY?

Because the legal fall out from this - could last decades!

Wikileaks relies on donations.

Why don't you go donate to them Davek? If you support them so much.

He was average like. Weird name for a Brazilian striker too.

You know what's funny about this whole thing? If America simply ignored the whole thing and simply repaired diplomatic channels in private, there'd be no outcry. Nearly all the documents are public knowledge anyway - it's just a matter of it being reflected in black and white.

The USA really are shooting themselves in the foot on this.

"US politician Sarah Palin, who is expected to run for the American presidency in 2012, has called for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to be hunted down “with the same urgency we pursue al-Qaeda and Taliban leaders”.

You are assuming the USA is one entity.

It isn't. It has states. the Federal Government has three branches and multiple government agencies.

To apply the term "USA" is not really accurate.

The US government and US military, and US intelligence community, and US State Dept ... and US judiciary aren't happy with him.....

errr OK. I'll let you off. None of the US government branches or agencies are happy with Wikileaks.

I THINK ITS REMARKABLE HE'S MANAGED TO TOTALLY [Poor language removed] ALL OF THEM SO THOROUGHLY. Some achievement that.

I will too. Just after I close down thr PayPal and Amazon accounts.

Good luck. Paypal keep your card details indefinitely - it's in the ToC.

Not only that, if your account is locked for whatever reason, you can't delete your account or credit card details at all.

The only people in America who are not exactly furious about Wikileaks are the rare few who are intelligent yet not involved in politics.

That's around 200 people nationwide. ^^

I'll get a new card.

Thats surely a breach of the Data Protection Act in the UK.

Someone get the information commissioner on to this !!!!

Some interesting posts on a boycott of Amazon/PayPal on the - not exactly revolutionary Marxist website - 'Marketing Week': http://www.marketingweek.co.uk/disc...es-boycott-over-wikileaks-row/3021238.article

Oh dear. I think our corporate friends might have dropped a major bollock on this one.

Its a tough one Davek in terms corporate considerations.

ROCK AND HARD PLACE.

Because these leaks are unprecedented really in their scope.

Like I said earlier. Legal Fall Out - lasting decades.

Both corporations lawyers have told them to limit their liability.

DAVEK... even companies allowed legal representation and to make decisions based on legal advice. Or are you saying they can't now?

Always knew you were anti-democratic.
