Wigan free agents

Player Valuation: £40m
Rodallega- Striker. Age 26. 1 in 4 record.
Figueroa- Left back. Age 28. Tipped early on to follow Valencia and Palacios to a bigger club.
Diame- Defensive midfielder. Age 24. Currently put in the second most number of tackles in the division, ahead of Lucas, Cabaye and Parker.

I believe that they're all out of contract in the summer. How about snapping them up to fill out our squad? Rodallega is capable of holding the ball up. He has movement and work rate. Figueroa could provide cover for Baines. And, I know we don't need another body in midfield at the moment, but Diame could give us some bite and step in if we had to sell Fellaini or Rodwell.
 

I know what you're saying Billy, but have you seen Wigan?

They are sh*te. Therefore so are their players.

Mind you so are we a bit.
 
Really good shouts there. Diame is a bit of a carthorse but Figueroa is half decent, and I'd have Rodallega here in a heartbeat. Very good player.
 

Figueroa's fairly gash but, in the awful case of Baines getting injured he'd be better than Neville at left back so yes.

Diame doesn't regularly start for Wigan, and we've already got a million centre midfielders so no.

Rodallega's 1 in 4 is hardly impressive but it's a lot better than Saha's 1 in 13 this season so yes.


And that's the bottom line, because Stone Cold said so.

Because collectively they're mediocre. The balance in the side isn't conducive to the expansive style of football they attempt, so they get battered on the counter repeatedly against fast sides, and against big sides they get overwhelmed as they don't know how to shut up shop.
 

Rodallega has lost it a tad this season, but I could put that down to him feeling it's a bit stale at Wigan. If he's only got 6 months left on his contract i'd say he'd be a very good signing to solve our problems in the final third very sharp player and he's 26 so a good age.
 
The more I think about it, this is a fabulous shout and we should be bidding on Rodallega. £2m should secure him.

There's no point waiting for the Bosman if it can be avoided as we'll be outmuscled financially by pretty much everyone.

Diame is no carthorse and is a regular in the Wigan side. He's a beast of a player aswell and one of Wigan's best, and some of you might say well that aint much but he's good, got a good engine on him, gets stuck in and can pass and drive on with the ball and as got a right dig on him from distance.

I'd definitely have him and i'd take a chance on Rodallega, i think he just needs a change of club to get his career back on track.

And isnt Moses in his final year at Wigan?. I'd definitely have him!.

Diame is a good player, but we already have two better that play in his position in Rodwell and Fellaini

I'd love this to happen. I've always thought he was a good player that is reasonably within reach of us.
