Why I'm going to enjoy next season

10/11/17 TWAIN CRUSH DAY
Ok lids and lidettes,

Rewind one year. Remember how excited we all were? It was going to be the year we pushed and maybe cracked the top 4. Expectations were high on the back of an ace 2nd half of the season. Even when we didn't get Sir Landon we all felt good. Arteta was fit and firing again Saha wasn't injured and we had a defensive unti tighter than a nats chuff. We all know what happened .... and it was miserable. Gut wrenchingly miserable as we looked impotent up front and error prone at the back and all those expectations slipped away.....

This year is different.

Even though we cobbled together some good results - especially against the better teams - we never really convinced. And, of course, we are skint and we aren't going to sign anyone decent - possibly not anyone at all. We have no defensive cover, injury prone, inconsistant strikers and a lack of balance in midfield.

So why am I going to enjoy next season?

Zero expectation, that's why. I do not expect us to do anything better than mid table. There are positives - mainly the fact that we have a fully fit squad who have finally had a summer off but that is about it.
In the absence of hope - is tranquility.

Enjoy!

Let's hope you're right. We're definitely better with the 'backs to the wall' and 'tight-knit squad' mentality. After all, it's only 11 bods kicking a lump of leather around the pitch, isn't it ? Anything could happen.

We don't have a fully fit squad, like. Arteta and Fellaini aren't fit enough to play.

But there is a lot of room for improvement even without us signing anyone. Whether or not we'll learn from last season's mistakes is another thing altogether, but hopefully we will.

And hopefully we will actually sign someone. I think just one decent acquisition would do wonders for morale; both the fans and the players.

I hope so. I've always come into seasons with my expectations being pretty high, I'm an ambitious person when it comes to Everton. However, this season I can't see us doing very well at all which will hopefully surprise me!

I'd also love us to sign just one person but I don't want it to come at the cost of a First Teamer, especially someone like Jagielka.

My thoughts exactly, sir (y)

I'm looking forward to the season simply because its the first time I've been able to afford a season ticket. Hoping to do most aways aswell.

No doubt it'll be a season of highs and lows (probably more lows than highs), however its Everton and you quickly learn to make the most of the highs and not dwell on the low points.

COYB, surprise us all.

I'm going to enjoy this coming season because I have a year under my belt. Got to know the team last year, looking forward to going into this year with experience. Love it.

We are largely the same squad as the one that started last season.

Remember, the squad that SAF said would be able to challenge for the title?

Which is why i am reverting to the same old preseason expectations as last year.
This will be the year Billy really comes good.
Anichebe will be boss. Top scorer, like.
I know Beckford is unproven but if he can score at least 8 league goals he'll be a success.
RODWELL RODWELL RODWEEEEEEEEELLLLLLL44EL!!!!

the kids are gonna step up, rodwell, barkley & someone random like baxter or vellios will spank 14 league goals.

Cos Moyes is at his wit's end, and he's gonna experiment or quit this coming season. And an Everton that's willing to step out of its rigid game-grinding mentality and go balls to the wall is gonna be a good show.

The day Moyes changes tactical style is the day the world implodes.

One goal lead, defend like hell, that's the Moyes way - regardless of how the team performs in the first 45 minutes. To be frank, that's probably what we need to sure up a few results early doors because our squad is too thin.
