It's a simple matter of logic: Decent seasons in the past and we've not found the solution to kick-on..
Now everyone can easily point to these two situations as to why we struggled to get going in the last two seasons - namely:
09-10 Selling Lescott - disruption
10-11 Buying No one of note..
Now don't just leave it at that - it's the lift the arrival of a big player can bring to the side - yet, when push-comes-to-shove and Everton have their backs to the wall they pull out the results - because the spirit is there, the manager is passionate and so on.
Look at the Suarez/Dalglish effect over the road - then compare that to the negative vibes Torres was throwing out about his time there. The big spending sides continue to get this lift from their players - but I'm sure our players must look around and feel a bit Blue (for the want of a better expression) about having to climb the mountain AGAIN with less players to do the job (which leads to injuries) and stronger opponents. I'm not saying they don't give of their best (well most of them) but it has to have an effect on the morale of the side to know they are competing against the top sides with one hand tied behind their backs.
So for me it's not about "we don't know what it is" it's about finding a coping strategy for the playing staff on this level.
