Why Everton?

yup, yup, and yup again. count me in for any plans made. Just tell me where, when, and how much. ;)

I'm from Glasgow and have always had a soft spot for Everton. I'm not sure why, but I feel the need to visit toffeeweb every now and again. I think its because you never have superstar players but you always play well as a team and a unit (I'm not quite on 'we' terms yet!). Also, I think Moyes is a terrific manager and he is one of the reasons (not the only one) why I think Everton are a well-respected club all over the world and particularly north of the border.

As a side-issue... If a 3, or even 5 foreigner rule was in place I firmly believe Everton would be title contenders and a bigger threat in Europe, its worked with the Scottish teams since money meant we couldn't attract big money foreigners anymore.

Also, Arteta is an amazing player, as is McFadden. You haven't seen the best of him yet!

Welcome, and everything you said is true. (y)

I was thinking this the other day- the side we could actually field if there was a foreigner rule:

-----------------HOWARD--------------
HIBBERT----JAGIELKA----LESCOTT---BAINES
ARTETA-----NEVILLE----GRAVESEN--OSMAN
--------------AJ---------VAUGHAN------

3 Foreigners: Gravesen, Howard and Arteta. Not a bad side that.

I was born a poor white kid on the south side of Chicago back when soccer wasn't cool. Around middle school age we would have pretty big pick up games at the school yard that lasted for hours. Played some rec league in the summers with our crew that got together a bunch for 3 v3 or whatever we could muster. Soccer wasn't a sport in High School until my Sophamore year and I was already entrenched as a runner. The NASL was fizzling out. Years later I played again for my ships team in Pearl Harbor where we won the intramural league one year in a 8v8 format.

Life happens...

...I have a daughter who has very good, and natural, gross motor skills yet rejects rec league soccer at age 6. Decides to join the following spring once she learns her friends are in it. Dad becomes an assistant coach and later a head coach. Starts recieving local youth soccer newspaper and sees an ad for the Everton training academy here in Connecticut just as I sign up for dish network. So there it was, a sign from the universe to be an Evertonian.

Aye not bad a bad side at all. Its a shame there isn't a foreigner rule in place in my opinion but money always speaks loudest eh? I was always a fan of Gravesen, never quite did it at Celtic (which I was more than happy about), but I think him and Arteta on-song is as good a midfield pairing as there is in the Premier League.

Lescott's coming onto a game this year, and it was nice to see him win his first cap. Thats the type of player Everton need to move forward, glad Moyes has a sensible head and doesn't blow money on over-rated moneygrabbers. When the times right Scotland and Everton should swap managers, it'll make me sleep easier at least! :D

Welcome mate, good to have another jock on board.

Its weird but I know plenty of blues that follow the tartan army, myself included. My missus is from Fife, which helps.

Cheers! Always good to be appreciated! She's from Fife? Good on you for understanding that accent, its a belter! :D

Everton and Scotland are real teams with real fans, think thats the connection!

Shes getting into Everton and she bought me the Scotland away top last week.

The accent is a bit mad, dya ken and all that. Slightly inbred from the Kingdom.

Im more a Sauciehall Street man meself.
