They didn't have supermarkets 60, 50 or even 40yrs ago. It was meat from (insert name of local butcher here) billy suetts on Windsor St, bread from cross's on warwick st(again insert local bakers etc) fruit n veg from....well you get it now I'm sure.

Fair point, I forgot about that. Shopped every day, that's right, my bad.
That said, I'd still assume it was habit, supermarkets have been around for long enough that it'd become habit.

i give you this but they were not supermarkets until the late 70s. They where just big shops, albeit a chain of shops, that sold a combination of fresh produce, meats and various sundries.,

I'm pretty sure they week all day everyday. What is frustrates me as that they often times seem to go there and slow down on purpose to get a human contact, I mean would they not have time to organize their change at home. I blame the relatives and Steve Jobs. But still yeah they frustrate me with their elderly habits, can't tackle them and will have to smile.
