... Liverpool has a higher drug offence rate than Lancashire?

Very similar population, neighboring counties - yet Merseysides drug offence rate is a lot higher.

Its for Uni work...

Cheers.

in theory the port of liverpool is a gateway for smugglers to get narcotics into the country. that making the city a hub for distribution, and every time a comodity changes hands, especially being 'consumable' as well as the capacity for drug dealers to dilute the raw product before it finds its way 'cut' to the end user means that there is a trail of drug abuse from the source to the mug that shells out for proplus cut with paracetamol and garnished with a smattering of cocaine.

serious drug abuse has risen at a notable rate in relation to the clampdown on cannabis and the major producer - morocco.

one day, the so called authorities will wake up and realise parts of the public want to go out and get wrecked, regardless of the health consequences.

Cheers suits.

So far I have;

Figures may be misleading in that Merseyside police more actively seek drug crime.

Liverpools port.

Merseysides clubbing culture is larger.

Any more general reasons why certain areas suffer more from drugs?

'drug offence'

depends what it includes, if alcohol fueled crime is counted then football hooliganism is a source, and a big high profile club like everton in liverpool as well as hooliganthugscum.fc at anfield are two factors in alcohol/football related violence.

areas of deprivation where 'users' want to escape the reality of poverty, as well as becoming small time dealers to fuel their habit is another factor.

believe it or not, the more affluent areas of liverpool have not so much a problem but a culture of drugs, specific to cocaine, every private club and high class bar will guarantee a certain amount of cocaine snorters. alex 'the filth whore' curran and crouch's squeeze were alleged to have been on coke binges in the city. god only knows what vdm was 'spiked' with.

does smoking in a bar now constitute a drug related crime? having been in bars in the city i have been offered knock off cigs and clothes and all sorts of [Poor language removed]. even at the game the smell of chuff occasionally floats over, then there was the time i found a 'Q' in the main stand.

check out the size of the local constabularies and compare numbers AND funding.
