Why are our players so under valued.

Player Valuation: £6m
Reading other threads and listing to the media it seems to me our players values are so under rated.

Baines is the best left back in the country and is English. Meaning his value is easy 25mil + and yet ppl are saying they take 15-18 mil. Comparisons Jordan Henderson 20mil, Rio Ferdinand 30mil, Glen Johnson 19mil, **** striker 35mil. One of the Liverpool defender barca wanna pay over 20mil. Baines is 28 so he got easily 4 season of top flight football.

Fellaini is probably our best player yet people are saying they take 22mil for him. Yet David Louis( who when ever I seen him has been **** and made loads of mistake) over 40 mil. Febregas who doesn't get in the Barca team 40 mil. An it goes on and on.

Reports Jelovic was going for 5 mil yet Gervino of arsenal went for 7. An Jelovic is a much better player.

So why is it our players aren't valued as high as other players are?

A couple of things. Like lot of other football fans we do overvalue our players a bit too because we watch them week in week out and see their value to our team. We also can't use whatever the sh*te pay for players as a guide as they have a history of over paying against the true market value.

That doesn't take from United's bid for our players which was undervalued. Consider though that Baines will have little resale value and Fellaini plays to his potential one in every four games.

We all think talk of McCarthy for £15m is ridiculous but speak to Wigan fans and they think that's a bargain.

Truth is fans usually have a view on what their players are worth based on how valuable they are to them and base that against the ridiculous transfers they see go through (and ignore the bargains that have happened out there, I mean if Michu is only worth £2m, what price does that put on 95% of the prem?). I can think of loads premiership players easy who are twice the player Andy Carroll is, doubt many of them would go for £35m +.

What a player is worth really comes down to what the buyer is willing to pay and what the seller is willing to accept. Baines isn't worth £12m simply because we aren't willing to accept £12m for him (like we were never going to accept that ridiculous £5m price tag papers put on him a few years ago). Until someone is actually sold, they don't have any value really.

Because Bill Kenwright is a dick and told everybody at the AGM he is broke and there is no money in the club

That nails it.

To be honest thou i wouldn't say our players are under valued just because Moyes tried to take the piss, it's nothing new. Saying that it works both ways, we have also over sold players in the past, didn't we get 12million for Rodwell, so City value him the same as Moyes values Baines? shows the whole market is a joke

....other clubs will know that we don't have a record of being tough negotiators. They know we need to sell and as a result we are in a weak bargaining position.

I'm far from a fan of the board, but aside from Rooney, in the last 10 years, when did we ever let anyone go cheap (and even Rooney was £25m with a decent sell on clause so was hardly daylight robbery)? If anything, I'd say we usually get very good prices for our players.

Thought you were gonna give a good answer then chico but it wasn't to be.

You also have to consider the stages on which the players have been outstanding, which for most is mainly the Premier League. Not many of our players have had much of an opportunity to impress either in Europe or in international competition, which is where you build a big reputation.

The club's financial situation is preyed upon. Other clubs know we will sell if a decent offer is received, because money is simply more valuable to the club than players.

One season in the Champions League would instantly inflate prices for our players.

Fellaini poses a real threat when he is in the opposition's box as we saw on Saturday when he was moved further forward as the game went on. That adds at least another £5m to his value as a midfielder which makes his minimum value £25m in today's market.

But expect Bill to take £20m.

Yes, and I'd also add that there must be a certain amount of *understanding* in the game that certain players are earmarked for a move to a certain club and the chances of - in this case Baines and Fellaini - tipping up elsewhere other than at United with their old manager are minimal, checking competition for their signature. And maybe there's a cartel amongst our top clubs not to step on each others toes and drive up prices on domestic players in an auction - that's in none of their long term interests.

"Plucky little Everton".

That's why

This precisely. I think there is some truth to the fact that our team is sort of greater than the sum of its parts. I don't think Pienaar would be nearly as effective without his telepathic connection with Baines, but we have several quality players.

The "plucky little everton" moniker also serves to change perception because of the way we're talked about. To a lot of the public, Baines didn't exist til 3 years ago. Fellaini didn't exist until 2 seasons ago.

By the end of the season we'll be sick of the coleman/barkley hype. Barkley I can understand as this is the first time he's really demonstrated his ability, but Coleman has been consistent whereever he's played for 3 years, and last season was spectacular. But the media were too busy creaming themselves over Baines to take any notice of how good Coleman is, the result is undervaluation.

Because other clubs think we are so skint and cannot buy anyone unless we sell.We are just very poorly run, so deserve the derisory offers for our players.

Because we're not one of the "fashionable clubs". If Baines and Fellaini played for Spurs they would be worth about 60m combined. Most of our fans get brain washed by the media as well in to believing that we should accept such little money for our players. Baines is the best left back in the league but we should accept 10-15m for him. But the likes of Glen Johnson who is ****ing garbage defensively got sold for around 18m and that's about right according to the media.

That really is a depressing fact. "We wont get more than that" etc. It defo feeds into the mainstream too. You can bet your bottom dollar that big money clubs (via their lickspittle journalists) will be gathering in feedback to initial bids and letting it dictate the line they take on the eventual price they'll pay.
