Yep 21 straight, crazy stuff. Goes to show that his performance at that Open was a talented prodigy raising his game but not being seasoned enough to maintain it at the time.

I will say natural talent is best nurtured longer term..

Well in Rosie, I was at Birkdale when he made that chip and he clearly had a very good straight game on a difficult course. He turned pro the following day to a great fan fare of publicity, he then missed 21 cuts on the bounce,enough to gut the most hardened pro. Last night he kept his nerve, played irons off the tee when danger lurked, putted beautifully on won with ease in the end.
It was great to see a short course like Merion hammer the best in the world which it did. I cannot remember the last time no one was under par in the US Open. They even had one pin at 96 yards, obviously a par 3 and some were taking 5 to get down, bunkers were deep and the rough was deeper.

Thanks for that but the fact remains that course proved you don't have to stretch courses to there limits in order to make them difficult. The studio pundits couldn't understand that narrow fairways, deep bunkers and proper rough with undulating greens make it a great test

Phil to me is one of the best sportsmen ever in any sport. I've got nothing but respect for the guy as he gives the fans 100% similar to Arnie top that with the love and devotion he shows his family makes him on hell of a guy and one the USA should feel very proud.
