I had trials. At Palace and Gillingham. Was meant to have more at Forest and Leeds.
I didn’t get anywhere, it was 28 years ago.
I stopped playing altogether soon after as I was very studious and felt pressure to get a place at Uni, just played 5 a side after.

Had a trial at Reading in 1973. Watched by (then) first team manager ex Sunderland and RoI Charlie Hurley. Scored twice from the wing in a 6-2 win.
Never heard back. Preferred Northern Soul All Nighters to playing by then anyway.

....nope never turned pro. In those days I think you had to be 15 before a club signed you, that’s when I was caught. I stayed until I was 18 but football was never for me and I was never for football.

Had a trial for Reading and my footballing career rapidly declined after that. I always remember on the walk through the park home some old fella who realised where I'd been asked for my name so he could keep an eye out if my football career took off.
With hindsight I think that may have been my first exposure to grooming.
